Great Park Balloon Site Under Construction
News Image The Great Park Balloon and Visitors Center will be temporarily closed to the public during construction of the 27.5-acre Preview Park and in preparation for Great Park Summer 2008. The site will reopen on July 12th, celebrating the Preview Park's grand opening as well as the Great Park's 3rd Anniversary.

Apply Now for the Great Park Ambassador Program!
News Image The Orange County Great Park Corporation is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for the 2008 Orange County Great Park Ambassador Program.  Ambassadors will have an opportunity to conduct community presentations and work as docents at the Great Park Balloon and other special events.

This program will provide an excellent opportunity for members of the community to contribute toward the development of the Great Park. Please click here to apply to become an Ambassador by May 15, 2008.

L.A. Times Architecture Critic Names Great Park One of the Best Designs of 2007
News Image Los Angeles Times architecture critic Christopher Hawthorne names his picks for the Best of 2007. He cited the Orange County Great Park as an example of one of the year’s best designs that, "help Los Angeles build its architectural momentum." In a story featured in the Sunday, December 16, 2007 edition of the LA Times, Hawthorne cited progress at the Orange County Great Park led by Ken Smith and the team of designers turning the old El Toro Marine Corps Air Station into a 1,300-acre park saying "the park continued this year to make impressive strides." Great Park On Schedule, Board Explores Programs to be Included in Park
News Image The development of the Great Park is moving along on schedule.  The design team is on track to complete a more detailed schematic design for Board approval by spring of 2008.  Over the last 18 months, the Great Park Board Corporation hired a design team led by Master Designer Ken Smith.  The Design Team produced a comprehensive Master Plan that was approved by the City of Irvine in September of this year.   The Board is now reviewing the evaluation process for programs that might be included in the Park. Read more...
